SNEAK PREVIEW OF THIS YEAR'S JOHN LEWIS XMAS AD: by dave-llamaman, journal
SNEAK PREVIEW OF THIS YEAR'S JOHN LEWIS XMAS AD:
We begin with two tramps fighting over the last can of turkey cat food; when the camera pans out it turns out that they're in the car park of a burning Waitrose, with a woman trading sexual favours on the street corner with someone that looks more like Jacob Rees-Mogg than he does. He pays her in root vegetables: three parsnips and a baking potato. The camera continues to pan around to reveal a congregation of kids praying to a department store Santa who has clearly survived thus far based on his weight and is holding his trousers up with an extension cord. We finish with a close-up on Santa's eyes: he has the thousand-yard stare of a man that lived through every single Yugoslav war crime of the 1990s. Over all of this is a slowed-down piano version of Cannibal Corpse's Hammer Smashed Face, sung by Eliza Doolittle or whatever Adele knock-off is going cheap these days.

The Benefits Technology Gives To Creative Writing
Technology and Creative Writing Creative writing, the ability to make stories, poetry, and other works of fiction, has been around for hundreds if not thousands of years. During this time, it has changed like anything else in the world. Technology has contributed to this change: that no one can deny. Has this change been a good thing? While some people may say it hasn't been because it changes our ability to bounce off others, and it limits our ability to immerse ourselves in the world since we can now, with some pieces, see and hear it ourselves, taking away our need to imagine it. I believe, for the most part, the answer is a resounding yes. This is because technology has improved creative writing by lessening the time it takes to write while also increasing the motivation to write. It also provides better ways to immerse the reader in one work by allowing it to be made in several different mediums besides just text, such as
Romance seems like a cultural invention by Anti-Romance, literature

Romance seems like a cultural invention
I don't believe at all that it's a physiological response humans are born with. It’s a cultural invention. Romantic love is based on an idea: the premise being that there is an individual out there who can satisfy the majority of our hopes and desires. This idea has been celebrated and popularized in different forms: books, movies, billboards, greeting cards, etc. It is with this idea that most people (particularly in the Western world) enter relationships, with the hope that the person they meet is "the one". Romantic ideas are not universal, and many cultures treat relationships in a more pragmatic manner, a union of individuals or families done for the purpose of improving or stabilizing their livelihood. In these settings, it's expected that you can grow to like the person you're with, or learn to be compatible (as one would with a family member whom they did not choose). This is how most domestic unions were structured even in Western societies up until a few centuries ago.

Platonic love is better than romantic love is
I don't think the romantic type of love is special. And I am started to think that the romantic type of love isn't real. I mean about more than half of romantic couples either break up with each other or divorce each other, while most platonic best friends remain friends until death. I think that having a platonic best friend is a lot better than having a romantic partner or spouse is. Having someone who's like a sibling to you is a lot better than having a romantic partner or spouse. Also, you are more likely to be much more closer to someone who's like a brother or sister to you than you would be with a romantic partner or spouse. People tend to fight with their partner or spouse a lot more than they do with a platonic best friend, and you never fight with your best friend the way you fight with your partner or spouse. Partners and spouses are just temporary. If you break up or divorce them, it's hard to go back to them. With your platonic best friend, you're going to make things

Ignorance and I: A Note in Self-Reflection
"Know thy own ignorance, for doing so is to take the first step on the path of enlightenment." I know my own ignorance, and I believe that it is something that I should share with the populace of this site, lest they misunderstand my ways and thought-processes, and take offence. However, the secondary purpose of this piece is to have it expressed down in writing so that I do not misunderstand myself. I believe that learning about oneself is life-long university course - here is today's lecture. I must preface my explanation with a disclaimer that I accept everyone for their sexuality or gender identity - because, really, it is none of my business what feels natural to people. If it harms none, then it is all good. See my posts on LGBT+ acceptance. I must confess that, as an autistic person, I have always seen the world in a very contrasting way - 'black and white', as the phrase goes. Uncertainty unsettles me greatly. Thus, I have always been quite comfortable with the ideas of

Link to 'Changeling Child' by smallch. "Hello, I found your project via the Weekly Commenting Project of ProjectComment | DeviantArt This piece invoked a wide range of emotions within myself while I read it. My first impression of this piece came from its title – ‘Changeling Child’. Its immediate use as the title of the piece, and its repetition at the start of every stanza marks it out clearly as an important subject to the author, and the use of alliteration in combining two opposite features – the sinister concept of a ‘changeling’ contrasting with the innocent concept of what a ‘child’ is perceived to be – made me long to start reading the poem. The opening line of each stanza allows the piece to keep its focus, which I perceive as being one that is negative: branding the child a ‘little thief’ and a ‘silly bird’ is combined with listing their past actions such as ‘pushing lies’ while instructing for the future to ‘pay your debts’ and to ‘listen now’ made me interpret the author
